This early 1950s Chinese aesthetic décor, which resembles Hong Kong’s glamourous Lan Kwai Fong, is the latest addition to the scene. Inspired by Hong Kong’s East-meets-West culture, Suzie Wong is a unique speakeasy that KL dwellers have yet to explore. Sign up for the Black Card membership to enjoy the premium seating at the bar’s raised pavilion. Marini’s on 57 is the place to be for award winning cocktails by head mixologist Rizal Junior. Try out the T&T Cobbler which won the Angostura Global cocktail competition. It is a blend of champagne, aged rum, peach liquor, angostura aromatic bitters and orange bitters.
Sticking with a champagne theme, other recommended cocktails are Just in Thyme, a blend of thyme, grapefruit juice and white peach, topped up with champagne, or Tokyo Kiss a unique combination of Choya Umeshu and champagne.
If you’re up for a night of quirky, experimental cocktails, Case Study is your best bet for something totally unexpected. The space is a botanist’s dream, with surrounding potted herbs (much of it ends up in your drink, whether infused, pickled or dehydrated), lush greenery and outdoor seating. The cocktails take centre stage, with kooky concoctions like the purple-hued Terrarium – a mix of sweet potato, egg white, lotus root gin, lemon, butterfly pea and apricot infusion.
