Located in a quiet corner of Tanglin Mall lies an unassuming entrance to what we believe is one of the few North Indian restaurants in Singapore that have successfully blended tradition and innovation to great success.
One of the first things that will strike you when you first enter Yantra is that it is a lot bigger than its shopping centre facing facade might suggest. The restaurant seats 138 guests comfortably and its sexy dark wood interior looks absolutely gorgeous at night. As with most North Indian restaurants, naan and tandoori are on the menu and with Yantra's open concept kitchen guests can watch on as the chefs get busy behind Yantra's 4 large custom-made red Tandoors (ovens).
Signature dishes at Yantra include the Chettinad Spiced Crab Cakes (SG$35) accopanied with curry leaf chutney.
If you have a penchant for mutton and all things curried, then you must try the Dhuan Gosht (SG$35 smoked mutton curry).
Like the Dhuan Gosht, the Dum Biryani (SG$31) is also enclosed in a layer or pastry which locks in all the lovely flavours and keeps the rice and mutton moist and succulent.
Our experience at Yantra was very positive and service was fast and attentive without being too intrusive. Dinners can also head down to Soma Bar for a few after dinner drinks and be entertained by Soma's enthusiastic Bar manager who will jump at any opportunity to set the bar on fire for your entertainment.
