Spanish food is synonymous with all things passionate and romantic, and this Valentine’s Day, reconnect with that special someone over a dinner that's just a little more thoughtful at La Viva at CHIJMES.

What is it:
Authentically Spanish, La Viva at CHIJMES is the choice for a quiet evening out less the usual commercial frills as with many eateries found in the malls of Singapore. Here, patrons take their time savouring food while spending quality moments with their companions over consistently mouth-watering tastes of everything Spanish on its menu.

Inside La Viva, the warm rustic-style bar, fitted with a countertop tapas display, is at once inviting and intimate.

The look: Subtly-lit with blue mosaic tables, slightly rustic with soothing Spanish groove playing in the background, you will feel like you've been whisked away to an entirely different world instantly. The interiors have been cleverly designed using hues of red, adding on to the mystic charm. The mahogany bar is good for patrons who appreciate a friendly chat or recommendations from its bartender. A Mediterranean-style courtyard is also available for those who prefer alfresco dining.

La Viva is known for its variety of the popular Spanish drink Sangria.

Food and drinks: La Viva will delight with its signature sangria that features an invigorating rich taste and skillfully-balanced mix. Each sip is full-bodied with real fruit pulps that will have you downing glass after glass.

La Viva’s menu of signature tapas includes the grilled asparagus rolled with Serrano ham; the crunchy asparagus goes well with the lightly-salted ham, which also masks the otherwise strong taste of the asparagus. Other noteworthy highlights include spicy garlic prawns and eggplant with tomato sauce.

We also love the Norwegian salmon, which is perfectly done and seasoned with spices and sea salt to retain all of its juices and natural flavours. La Viva's skillet baked rice will also please all rice lovers.

Verdict: For those who value ambience and quality food above all, this place is a definite must-try. Even if it is just for a drink, the array of bite-sized food offers more than the usual deep fried batter. Appreciate the true notion of “live to eat”.
