What it is: An Italian steakhouse that specializes in the traditional Bistecca Florentina and authentic Tuscan cuisine. What makes Bistecca stand out is their selection of the finest cuts -- with absolute control over the entire supply chain, they can ensure that their highly marbled, dry-aged Wagyu-Holstein beef meets stringent quality checks. Situated in Mohamed Sultan Road, their vast range of native dishes extends beyond impressive steaks, providing a delectable dining experience even for people who aren’t quite connoisseurs of steak.
The look: Strictly farmhouse-chic. Besides the cowhide rugs that lay stretched across the front of the restaurant, vast meat fridges line alongside the open kitchen, allowing diners to witness the preparation of your meal. Dine al fresco at the unique three-level terrazza or have a seat within the intimate and cosy dining area, which is complimented by three private rooms.
Food and drinks: Cooked using traditional methods -- on a charcoal-grill -- taste the inherent quality of the lightly salted steaks, typically made from the meat of the largest breed of cow, Chianina. Also on the menu are authentic Tuscan pastas, succulent lamb shanks and delicious pork belly roll. In addition, diners can treat themselves to homemade Tuscan country bread with burrata, or their mouthwatering desserts, including the chocolate souffle that is freshly baked on the spot. Patience is necessary, but we can assure you it’s worth the wait.
Bistecca’s impressive wine offerings cater to casual drinkers as well as wine connoisseurs, ranging from S$14 for a glass of sparkling prosecco, to S$22 per chalice of red wine. Dessert wines and grappa supplement the list of drinks specially imported from Tuscany and the surrounding regions. Kimberly, their in-house sommelier will be there on most nights to offer you expert advice on which wines will go best with your Bistecca Florentina.
Verdict: The inviting ambience at Bistecca is perfect friends who are looking for a night of great food, steak lovers on the hunt for that perfect steak, as well as couples out for an intimate dinner.
