Oktoberfest isn't just the only festival the Germans celebrate with copious amounts of alcohol and boisterous festivities. Its lesser-known cousin, the Maifest, a celebration of the arrival of Spring after the cold dreary months of winter, might not be as widely-embraced throughout the world as Oktoberfest, but it holds the same significance amongst the Bavarians. Trust the Germans to always having a reason to partake in traditional grub and refreshing beer!
But we're not complaining. This May, be part of the Spring celebration at German microbrewery Paulaner Brauhaus, which brings its 12th Maifest to Singapore with a lineup of exciting activities, topped off with special beer and food promotions starting 7 May 2012.
Paulaner Brauhaus was picked as one of the top five microbreweries in Singapore. Who else made it to our list?
The main highlight of the festive promotion -- a special limited edition Maibock brew by Paulaner Brauhaus' brewmaster. With an alcohol percentage that's higher than the usual beers, Maibock is the traditional Bavarian spring beer that has a particularly full-bodied flavour; the "bock" apparently refers to billy goat, and is taken to symbolize the strength of the beer and hence, not to be underestimated.
Spring's also the season of the precious white asparagus, and Paulaner Brauhaus has flown in the exquisite stalk specially for the occasion, preparing it in five different ways, from the Classic and the Northern One, to the Fisherman. If the food and beer isn't enough for you, 2cl Jagermeister shots will be available from roaming beer girls all night.
Join in the fun, German-style at Paulaner Brauhaus this May!
