Functionality is key for Gucci's latest, the irresistible-sounding Soft Stirrup bag, and the reason for our hankering as we ready our closets for the pre-fall season.
It's not technically new, the Soft Stirrup bag; instead, it's a reinterpretation of Gucci iconic rigid frame style from 1975, updated with a highly functional and deconstructed shape, and a convenient large or medium size that make for a light and spacious carry. It's still unmistakeably Gucci though, featuring the iconic spur as hardware that harkens back to the fashion house's riding heritage.
Just as functional and gorgeous as the Gucci Soft Stirrup bag is Loewe's Flamenco bag for Spring/Summer 2012.
Don't expect a colourful palette -- it's supposed to complement Gucci's pre-fall collection after all! -- and instead, think more subdued but sophisticated shades of medium brown, deep carmine, cocoa and marron glacée.
What we really love however, are the luxurious material options the Soft Stirrup bags come in -- washed calfskin and nubuck, both lined in either natural GG linen or leather, as well as sumptuous exotic skins like python, ostrich and crocodile, all with suede lining. The crocodile skin one in particular, comes applied with specials oils that give it an extra soft and natural finish.
The new Soft Stirrup bag might not be Gucci's most exciting bag yet, but the combination of sheer functionality and impeccable craftsmanship topped off with just a hint of casual attitude makes it a timeless accessory that we could see ourselves carrying season after season.
