Singapore racer extraordinaire, Melvin Choo will be blazing down the track this weekend (20-21st June) at the Sempang International Circuit behind the wheel of American supercar, the Mosler MT900R. He enters the 2009 Super GT with the ThunderAsia Team and will be racing alongside 33 other participating teams from all over the world. We speak to Melvin Choo.
How do you feel representing Singapore this weekend?
Excited, really looking forward to it. It is going to be a tough race.
What have you done to prepare yourself for the race?
I have not had much time with the car. I have only gave it a spin once and the practice run this weekend at Sempang will only be the second time so I will have to learn quick.
What is it like racing in Sempang?
Racing in Sempang is harsh and it can get very hot in the cabin. I have been running in the sun for the past few weeks to get used to the heat. Unfortunately I over did it a few weeks back and broke out with hives!
You have been behind the wheel of legendary cars like Porche, BMW and Aston Martins in past races, which is your personal favourite?
I will let you know after this race. So far this Mosler is looking very good. But right now I like my BMW 320 World Touring Car very much.
What defining features does the Mosler have?
650 Horsepower. It is a very fast car and a joy to drive.
So off the race track, what do you drive?
I drive a Volkswagen Golf.
See you at the races!
