You don't need to be a dance expert to get swept up in the toe-tappingly infectious beats and sultry tunes of Latin music. And what better way to pick up a few moves than at Clarke Quay's very own Latino Salsa Thursday?
The popular series, which has seen scores of dance enthusiasts, amateur or otherwise dancing up a storm at the Clarke Quay Central Fountain Square, makes a return on 5 July, and will continue on every first Thursday of the month from July to September. The three sessions of Latin live music and Salsa dance workshops (7:30pm - 10pm at the Central Fountain Square) might not be able to grant you expert moves, but you'd at least be guaranteed of a swinging good time.
5 July: Arenalina and Guests Artists
Latino Salsa Thursday kicks off with Arenalina + Guest Artists, who came together after reaching international acclaim with different bands and realizing they shared a common goal in using music to spread the culture of Latin America. They will keep you dancing all night long with their fiery Salsa rhythms and brand of Latin Salsa and Latin pop music.
2 August: Angela Vargas and Jaime De Jesús Martínez Miranda
Talented vocalist Angela Vargas takes to the stage on 2 August with her sultry vocals -- she's been performing in major Asian cities as a lead singer for the last seven years -- while established Colombian vocalist, dancer and choreographer Jaime De Jesús Martínez Miranda, an active performer in the Colombian music scene, will bring the night to a high with his unforgettable performances.
6 September: JJ Hernandez, and Alina Ramirez and Mario Lopez
Swing along on 6 September to the catchy Latin beats of Colombian musician JJ Hernandez, a regular in the music scene since his youth, then dance the night away with Ireson, the much sought-after band duo of Alina Ramirez and Mario Lopez, who have performed in many Salsa festivals in Mexico.
In addition to the live music performances, award-winning Salsa dance instructors from En Motion Dance School will also be conducting free Salsa dance workshop in between performances for those keen on perfecting a move or two. And after you're done working up a sweat and an appetite, top off your evening with Clarke Quay's 1-for-1 special F&B deals at over ten participating outlets.
