Carefree Playfulness With Dot by Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs revisits his love affair with polka dots for his new fragrance
The charming bottle was designed by Sayuri Shoji in collaboration with Marc Jacobs. The fragrance itself was a collaboration with Ann Gottlieb.

According to Marc Jacobs, there is never a wrong time for a polka dot. An idyllic whimsy comes to mind with 'Dot', the new fragrance inspired by one of his signature trends from as far back as his very first collection.

The fragrance is all about feminity and playfulness. The packaging, a design statement on its own, ties the themes of retro classic and contemporary together with the use of bold red polka dots on black. The bottle itself is a clear red-tinted glass with black polka dots reminiscent of a precious lady bug, complete with large matching butterflies resting on it. The gold trimming and the pearl at the heart of the butterfly elevates the perfume to a level of sophistication and elegance.

Dot's top notes include red berries, dragonfruit, and honeysuckle. The honeysuckle was the most prominent of the three to us, and still lingers even while giving way to the jasmine and orange blossom notes emerging from the heart of the fragrance. The base notes of vanilla, driftwood and musk were a lot more subtle in comparison.

The fragrance is great for daytime wear, with subtle and fresh floral tones enough to make one feel young and carefree.

Dot by Marc Jacobs is now available in Singapore at S$98 for 30ml, S$125 for 50ml, and S$158 for the 100ml bottle.
