The fashion industry can seem rather obsessed with materialism most of the time, and that’s why it’s always gratifying to see brands and fashion influencers utilising their power to help make a difference. Whether it’s ethical projects that create work opportunities for the less privileged, eco-friendly creations that reduce our damage to the environment, or charity collections that raise awareness and funds to offer help to those in need — these are the efforts that are always worth our support. Scroll down to take a look at the latest ethical style offerings that are promoting beauty both inside and out.

Christian Louboutin x Taller Maya Foundation

Christian Louboutin x Taller Maya Foundation
Christian Louboutin with local artisans in Mexico.

Christian Louboutin has collaborated with Taller Maya Foundation to launch their newest treasure tote bag, Mexicaba, which is inspired by the designer’s love for the embroideries, colours and pagan motifs found in Mexican culture. The partnership aims to help preserve authentic craftsmanship and, at the same time, ensures long-term economic empowerment of Mayan artisans as well as a sense of community and an opportunity to provide for themselves.

These bags are all crafted by local artisans in Mexico using traditional weaving and embroidery methods, and each one has a unique touch. The colourful tote features panels of handwoven cotton with vivid Mayan embroideries, along with bone beads fashioned from the horns of bull cattle and wooden beads painted with mythical wild beast motifs. Ten percent of profits from sales in Christian Louboutin boutiques will be donated to the Foundation, directly benefiting artisans in Mexico.
