Not all relationships are meant to last forever, but our love affair with shoes is certainly one of the exceptions. To explore the implicit dialogue between women and shoes, Lane Crawford has recently presented the fashion book, Vogue: The Shoe, with a curated exhibition at its IFC store to launch the title. To mark the occasion, guests such as Sabrina Ho, Utah Lee, Mayo Wo and Karina Ha were invited to a night of bubbles in the presence of author Harriet Quick, who flew all the way from the UK to discuss the wonders of soles, high and low.
Through a series of images captured by fashion’s greatest photographers throughout the past century — think Norman Parkinson, Corinne Day, Bruce Weber, Nick Knight and Mario Testino — guests are encouraged to explore the different genres of shoes that perpetuate through vast swings in fashion and society, as well as its relations to the changing role and ambitions of women.
