Fancy a Roman holiday? One of the Eternal City’s most luxurious properties, Hotel Eden, will reopen to the public next year, which could be just the excuse you need to plan a trip to Italy. Built in 1889, the property has hosted royals, dignitaries and numerous celebrities over its long history. Following a year and a half of renovations and updates, the property is expected to once again welcome guests in April, and reservations for spring stays are now available.
As one of 10 properties in the prestigious Dorchester Collection, a portfolio of exclusive and luxurious hotels, Hotel Eden offers high-level hospitality and local culture. Since 2006, the group have worked to acquire and restore historic hotels with the aim of breaking down the barriers between luxurious lodging and authentic experiences.
The 127-year-old hotel, which began its restoration programme in November 2015, is located in the heart of the Old City of Rome, near to the iconic Spanish Steps and picturesque Villa Borghese. Interior designers Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille, of 4BI & Associates, are collaborating with Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku, from Jouin Manku, to blend contemporary touches with the property’s original, classic Roman style.
Upon its reopening, 98 spacious guestrooms and suites will be on offer, along with a dynamic dining concept that comes with a captivating panoramic views across the Eternal City. To add to the posh experience, a new urban spa with four suites will also be introduced, featuring a combination of signature treatments and wellness offerings by celebrity facialist Sonya Dakar and Officina Profumo — Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, the world’s oldest pharmacy and cosmetic shop. A blow-dry bar and dedicated area for nail treatments will also be available.
With an impressive line-up of individual hotels across Europe and the US, such as Le Richemond in Geneva (the city’s oldest hotel), Le Meurice and Plaza Athénée in Paris (both listed with palace distinction) and The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles to name a few, Dorchester Collection’s new Roman project will no doubt be a new favourite amongst discerning travellers around the world.
