Having already established their credentials with their Super Series and Ultimate Series, McLaren have unveiled the first model in their brand new Sports Series. The McLaren 570S, which has just launched in Hong Kong, extends the auto house’s design philosophy into the luxury sports sector, with a focus on everyday functionality while also setting a new benchmark in the sports car market.
The new model is constructed using a lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis, making the McLaren 570S, at a little over 1,300 kilograms, nearly 150 kilograms lighter than its nearest rival. Inside, the punch is provided by an evolution of the 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, with 30 percent new components, meaning that the 570S has the leading power-to-weight ratio in its class.
The aesthetics also play a role in performance, with optimised aerodynamics supported by the design’s clean, seeping lines and uncluttered exterior. The front bumper is also a key element to the performance aspects of the McLaren 570S, with a pronounced point generating a centre of pressure and piercing the air to reduce drag and form four quadrants.
The 570S has been designed with the ultimate usability in mind. Features like a longer and wider cabin ups the space inside, while a front screen that is taller than it is wide optimises forward visibility. Regular use has also been considered, with class-leading storage space in the front luggage bay, and a seven inch LED touchscreen to keep the drive’s vitals in easy viewing.
Even though it’s tailor-made for an introduction to the brand, tThe McLaren 570S retains the brand’s focus on craftsmanship and offers the highest level of personalisation available. As well as a choice of up to 17 colours for the exterior, key interior features include floating elements that add to a sense of depth and spaciousness.
The Sports Series will also feature the widest range of By McLaren customisation options to date. These designer interiors offer a wider range of design themes that aren’t otherwise available through the otherwise optional specifications, and the 570S will have a total of ten custom design palettes from which to choose.
The McLaren 570S will be available in Hong Kong in Q1 2016. Prices start at HK$3,200,000.
